As rule I never lie, because God doesn`t like it, and it`s bad to me and to everybody. It means I wouldn`t want somebody lies me.

i wonder that the idiom "as a rule" is used in normal context, writing. Is that right?

You can use "as a rule" when either speaking or writing.
