Dear Teachers, please help me with this.

The hotel where/that/in which we stayed was not clean.
I think where and in which are possible?

Yes, #1 and #3 are grammatically correct, although you will only really see #3 used in writing. It would sound very strange to hear it spoken.

Interestingly, in spoken English, you'll hear the following very commonly:

\"The hotel that we stayed in.\"

The grammar purists don't like this construction at all, because it violates a rather old rule of written English that states you should never end a sentence with a preposition.

Just to make it hard on students, the rules of grammar aren't always followed by native speakers!
