think in English - 2007/06/28 19:11 hi everyone! i'm cat. my english isn't so bad, but neither is it perfect. i just want to say that i believe that to improve our english ability (speaking, listening, etc.) we should also try to "think in english." if thinking in english becomes a habit, this will save us time to translate whatever we want to say.
do you agree?

Re:think in English - 2007/08/18 02:28 hi there!

thanks for posting a reply. i think the first step in doing this (thinking in english)is to start with simple words. for example, instead of saying the word "water" in your native tongue, just automatically think of the english word.then as you go along, you may try more difficult words. when it becomes a habit, you'd be able to name everything around you in english without translating them in your head anymore. try it, okay.
i'm sure you'll find it fun and useful. good luck!

Re:think in English - 2007/08/27 05:39 well, to some extent you are right, but if we only think and not put it into practice, then we might possess rich vocabulary, but our pronunciation and the confidence to converse with others will never improve. just a thought
